Hi everyone,
I am a qualified pre and post natal training and nutrition coach, so I thought I would take some time to explain why training during pregnancy is a great thing to do.
10 reasons to train during pregnancy
Improves stamina and heart health
Reduces the risk of pregnancy complications
Boosts your mood
Lowers blood pressure
Eases back and pelvic pain
Fights fatigue
Improves sleep
Relieves constipation
Lowers the odds of delivery complications
Speeds up post-delivery recovery time
Most of the reasons why women train when they aren’t pregnant are just as relevant when they are. However, the focus for pregnancy training is different. We aren’t going to be off trying to beat our personal best for squats or running a marathon. Instead, we are focusing on reducing posture and muscle dysfunction along with preparing mum both physically and mentally so that she is better prepared to carry the growing bump for the next nine months.
It’s important to talk about the fact that there are a lot of myths regarding pregnancy and training. Many mums to be will receive conflicting “advice” from people which may put them off the idea of physical activity during pregnancy.
I’m here to help guide you through the minefield of misinformation and to get you on the right path to find out what is the right thing for you and the baby over the coming months. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
Happy training!
Dougie
