If you don't measure it, you can't track it. Part one.

In order to lose fat you need to be in a calorie deficit. So what does that mean? A calorie deficit is where you burn more calories than you consume.


This is a concept some people struggle with and often it takes a while to realise that this is the only way to lose weight.


To get into a calorie deficit you either need to consume less calories, be more active or do both.


People in general are terrible at estimating things. We overestimate how many calories we burn and we vastly underestimate how many calories we consume. This is why tracking is key to reaching your fat loss goals.


Before starting a fat loss program I would advise that you download an app (I use Samsung Health, it's 100% free and so easy to use) to track your activity and calorie intake.


Use it religiously for a week to fully understand exactly how many calories you are consuming and burning. I can guarantee you will be in for a surprise!


Invest in some kitchen scales and measuring spoons. I'll explain why in my next post why these are as crucial as dumbbells and barbells in my next post...
